PRAJASHAKTHI
Speaking of dreams, it was one man's dream to provide a better life to the plantation communities and to ensure the well being of the future generations. Saumyamoorthi Thondaman strived to realize this dream when he was alive. Even after his demise he continues to see from a world unknown, his dream realized through the STMF.
The whole world is moving towerds a knowladge based society with Internet and Satellite communication technology. To keep place with the rest ofthe world in computer literacy, Which will be the basis for future socio-economic devolopment of any comunity, establishment of E-Kiosk centres has becom vital. This project initated by the foundation in 2005 is poineer effort to push the Plantation people to achieve the status of computer literate Community, especially the youth who are expected to play a vital role in shaping the future of the community.
The first phase of Prajashakthi project which consisted of 27 e-kiosk centres was inaugurated on March 18th 2006 at Wanaraja. After having successfully reached various milestones during this one year period, the second phase of the project is being lunched scaling it up 50 centres. Within a six year period 450 Prajashakthi Centres will be comleted.
Prajashakthi deals with:
- EDUCATION
- WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
- YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
- SOCIAL AWARENESS (Social Mobilization)
- E- LEARNING
The e-kiosk centers will play a importent role in providing the much needed computer literacy to the youth in the plantation who are deprived of such oppertunities due to their socio economic corditions. The youth who aspire to be independent and be away from the clutches of the dependent culture prevalent in the Plantation sector will benefit immensely to devolop their knowladge and skills through these centres. Information Communication Technology will be the basis for devolopment of any country and community in future. Hence the Prajashakthi Centres will open the doors to the Plantation youth to achieve the status of Computer literate citizens of this country in time to come.
Vision
To make available to the plantation community the wide advantages of the internet and intranet communication technologies. This will not only integrate into the project Educational, Social, Cultural and Civil activities of Plantation communities but also facilitate the use of technology as a catalyst in transforming the communities into a united and well informed and self sufficient society.
Mission
To achieve comprehensive, complete and overall socio economic development of the Plantation Community assisted by extensive application and use of Information Technology and the foundation intends to achieve this by making best possible use of the wide advantages of the Information and Communication Technology, through the committed involvement of all the stake holders.
